Day 9

The ninth day on The Master Cleanse Diet has finally come, and you can almost touch the finish line with your fingertips. Most of us can obviously see significant weight loss, inches off the waist, smoother skin, and a renewed outlook on healthier living. Some of us notice these changes after the Cleanse.

The fact is we will see these changes at one point or another. It is a case-to-case basis. On an average, by the ninth day, we all look forward to the end of the diet. You only have a day to go.

Today can be a tough day for some of the master cleansers. You may feel like giving up but it shouldn’t be a big problem finishing the day as you think that you only have 2 more days to go.

There are two ways to go, once the last day comes. Will you go on with the lifestyle, or will you totally quit? The choice is yours. But it is definitely a good chance for you to change your lifestyle.

    I am encouraged by all of you who led the way and made it possible for me to get to day 9. I, too, awoke with a headache, but it wasn’t too bad. I feel strong, but I can’t wait to eat…anything! Actually, I’m craving a spinach salad.

    Gum has helped with the trench mouth, which was at it’s worst day 7. I think, like many, that we all experience this in a slightly different way. At the same time, it’s good to know there are patterns in it all.

    I’ve lost no weight in 9 days! In fact, this morning I weighed 1.7# MORE than the day I started, but at 165# and 6’2″, I was not working with much body fat (about 11%)so unlike most, I wasn’t looking for weight loss, just the benefits of the cleanse.

    Now my plan is to follow the “Body for Life” plan by Bill Phillips. I actually would like to gain 10-20#, but NOT fat. With 9 back surgeries behind me, every ounce of fat hurts like hell. Being fat-free and trim works miracles on my back and quality of life.

    I really wanted to do 14 days! Day 9 has me ready to be over with this. I have been nauseated by the taste in my mouth since day 7. I have to eat mints and chew gum to make it through. I was gonna try one day at a time after day 10 but I am being tortured by this taste. Brushing doesn’t help after the lemonade helps for a while then back. I am excited about the results but I am more miserable by now.

    question is it rue the less lemonade you drink the less weight you lose>? I weighed myself on day 8 and lost 9.3 lbs it mad me sad

    I just finished my 9th day. My tongue is still coated and this morning I woke up w/a headache. The headache didn’t last and I had no more after that. My face is still blemished a little bit. I never had blemishes before I started the MC. My BM is pretty much clear. Two days ago and this morning there was a little pea sized feces. Does this mean I will have to go past the 10 days? I haven’t been drinking much water other than the LD. Over the weekend I drank less of the LD. I never cheated by eating food, though.

    Day 9 October 12, 2010
    I had trouble with posting earlier so I’m late. Since there is only Day 9 and I went 15 days I decided to post the rest of those days here for anyone that might go longer.
    Today I woke up at 2:45 and did SWF at 3:11. I had Smooth Move BM at 3:17 and then SWF BM at 3:55 and then at 4:00, then 4:15.I decided to try the water in-between to see if I could get more flush so I drank 8 ounces of water and had another at 4:32 then water and at 5:22 and 5:44. Not only did I have more BM they seem to be more flushing due to increased volumes of water. I headed in to work at 6:00 and had my 1st LD at 7:30 and then at 10:30, 12:30, 2:30, 4:30. I drank Smooth Move Tea at 7:30 and went to bed. This was a good day and I can tell I’m getting cleaner inside by what isn’t coming out. I had no side effects at all today. Day 9 bites the dust!

    Day 10 October 13, 2010
    Today I woke up at 1:00. No BM from the tea or I’m too early for it to have worked. I weighed 180.8, fat percent 17.9, bone mass 7.4, water percentage 59.9 and BMI 24.4. So far I have lost 11.2 averaging 1.24 pounds a day. I would rather the average be up around 2 pounds but since I’m doing only 6 or less lemon drinks a day I guess this is as good as it gets for me. I did the SWF at 1:20 and laid back down then got up and had my first BM at 2:15 and then at 2:33, 2:49, 3:01, 3:12, 3:27, 3:55 and then one at 5:25. I napped in between BMs. I stayed up after the last BM and showered, shaved, dressed and it was off to work. I did my first LD at 7:15 and then at 9:30, 11:50, 3:00, 5:00 and then at 7:00. . I measured to see what level of Ketosis I was in using a Bayer Ketostix. I measured a small about (15mg/dl); the highest you can go is 160mg/dl. This accounts for the limited weight lose. During a water fast I normally top out at 160mg/dl but it is defiantly harder on the body, mind and spirit. I took this measurement right after a LD so tomorrow I will take another reading after I get up in the morning. I drank Smooth Move Tea at 8:15 and went to bed Looks like I will go longer than 10 day but I don’t want to speculate as to how long.

    Day 11 October 14, 2010
    Today I woke up at 2:30 and had BM at 3:11. I weighed 179.4 (first time to that number in a while), fat percent 14.8, bone mass 7.6, water percentage 62.1 and BMI OF 24.2. Blood pressure was 110/72. I took another measurement today using Bayer Ketostix and it read normal no fat, so we must burn our fat in the daytime and not at night. I did the SWF AT 3:33 with BMs following at 4:00 and 5:22. I did my first LD at 7:45 and then at 9:50, 12:30, 2:55, 5:00 and 7:00. I did a peppermint tea at 11:00. I did SMT at 8:00 and went to bed. Day 11 bites the dust!

    Day 12 October 15, 2010
    Today I woke up at 3:22 and measured Ketosis which was 5mg/dl (very low). I weighed 178.6, fat percent 15.3, bone mass 7.6, water percentage 61.1 and BMI 24.2. Blood Pressure was 130/80 so I took a BP pill. I had BM AT 3:30. I did the SWF at 3:44 and 1st BM at 4:18 and then at 4:36, 4:48, 5:05, 5:22, 5:50 and then at 6:02. I did LD at 7:28, 9:50, 12:10, 2:30 and at 6:41. I did a SMT at 8:00 and went to bed.

    Day 13 October 16, 2010
    Today I woke up at 4:00 and had BM at 4:11, 4:24 and 4:33. Blood Pressure was 92/62. I weighed 177.4, fat percent 15.1, bone mass 7.4, water percentage 61.9 and BMI of 24.0. I did SWF at 4:49 and had first BM at 5:29, 5:44, 6:00, 7:29 and 7:45. I did my first LD at 8:00 and then at 10:30, 12:40, 3:00, 6:00 and then at 9:25.
    Today I move all my plants inside which was a task. I have over 50 gallon size plants 4 very large plans and assorted others. It took me most of the day. We had a football party with lots of food but I have no desire to eat. I did SMT at 11:45 and went to bed.

    Day 14 October 17, 2010
    Today I woke up at 9:30 and had BM AT 10:20 and 10:20. I weighed 176.2, fat percent 14.8, bone mass 7.4, water 62.1 and BMI of 23.8. Blood pressure was 102/70. I did SWF at 10:40 and BM at 11:30, 11:40, 11:55 and 12:20. I did my first LD at 12:10 and then at 2:30 and at 5:30. I did a SMT at 7:30 and went to bed. Day 14 bites the dust. I’m feeling fine and have decided to go a little farther. I will continue until I run out of all supplies, maybe another couple of days. I would like to be up to solid food by the week-end.

    Day 15 October 18, 2010
    Today I woke up at 2:00. I weighed 175.0, fat percent 15.4, bone mass 7.4, water percentage 61.7 and BMI 23.7. My blood pressure was 99/62. I did the SFF at 2:15 and had my first BM at 3:00 and then at 3:05, 3:13, 3:27, 3:45. I went back to bed and got up at 5:22 and got ready and went to work. I had my first LD at 6:30 and then at 9:30, 12:45 and the last one at 2:30. I stopped and bought veggies for a veggie soup for tonight. Today I was hungry for the first time in 15 days. Tonight at 6:00 will make 15 days exactly and I plan on having some broth with just a little soft veggies. I’m going to make a potato, scallion, butternut squash, snow peas, moog beans, carrots, cabbage and mushrooms soup. I seasoned with some soy bacon bits, Italian herbs, garlic, pepper salt and three bay leaves. I cooked half of it until real tender and smashed with potato smasher and then added the other half and all the cabbage. I ate 1 ½ small bowls and it filled me up. Probably should have stopped on one bowl! I ate 5 wheat crackers. The detox is over and I can see doing it again after January 1, 2010.
    Now for the hard part keeping the live style changes going. Now that I should have some energy I will start an exercise program and start a flexaterrian lifestyle.

    The end of day nine> I started out this morning very calm then I had my bout of energy, then around 5:30 as always I wanted to eat and so I worked out on my stairmaster for 30 minutes and felt great and no more hunger or THOUGHTS of hunger. I want to continue and do 14 days. I’m going to take it one day at a time after the 10 days of MC. Good luck everyone, say strong and BELIEVE you can and you will!

    Day 9…and feeling fine! Honestly, I thought that i was’nt going to make it this far…but I did! And believe me if I can do it…well, you know the rest :) I have a lightness and peace that I never felt before, yes, I’ve been tempted, but there was something stronger than mere temptation to keep me going…I want to be healthy!!! I’m 45 now and perimenopausal and I don’t want all the problems that go with getting older (hign blood pressure, hypothyroidism, weight gain, lethargy, etc.) and the way I was going I was heading for all of those things! In May I weighed in at 191 and was so uncomfortable with my body, and depression was my state of mind all the time (I have been through a real rough few yrs…Mom died, went through divorce after 20 yrs of marriage, my sons move out of state, I moved to a different state) and I neglected my health and it showed, yout body becomes less forgiving as you get older…but today I weigh 161 lbs and I feel younger, happier, and most important, healthier!       That is awesome! I’m 49 and have had a year of transition as well. gained weight and was feeling it (less energy, looking older). I too feel better now and like I got a jump start on the whole process of ‘getting back to it’. Thanks for your post and best to you!

    I made it to day 9!! I have to say, I am pretty damn excited for this thing to be over. I never had a day where I was comfortable being around food and not eating it, unfortunately. It’s been a struggle the entire time. Of course, today was easier than many days past, and I’m certain I will finish this thing. I just wish I had the symptom that so many people describe, where they want to keep going and don’t mind it so much anymore. I can’t wait to eat!! Oh well. My skin is clear, my stomach is much flatter, my upper thighs are more slender, and I have a huge sense of pride regarding my willpower. Willpower has always been one of my bigger weak spots, so doing this has meant a lot to me as I prepare for a busy year in which I refuse to sacrifice healthy living. Good luck everyone!!!

    Day 9 for me, I have prepared a 4 week schedule of recipes to ease into a healthier lifestyle. have bought my wholegrain and whole wheat products too..but i am thinking of having 5more days on the master cleanse

    @meeh- The cleanse is a complete mind over matter challenge. While I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone under the age of 13 (that’s when I first started) it really is a maturity and mental set up. You can’t jump into this thing without prior preparation. You might easily give up if you aren’t physically and mentally prepared.

    Alright. Day nine. Oh wow. I’ve gotten this far and I don’t see how I could possibly give up. I’m going to try and keep myself occupied and make sure to stay busy so that the time flies. I might even reward myself with a little bit of a spa day this Saturday morning. I’m actually proud of myself. I’ve been helping cook dinner and making small snacks and appetizers for my family from a day to day stand point.. I’m sure I can complete this. This is a personal goal of my own that I need to fulfill.

    I’ve also noticed that my skin is a lot more clearer and that I can fit very well into most all of my clothes. I was never big in size beforehand but I did feel heavy. I feel light as a feather today and I intend to change my eating habits. They aren’t horrible, I’m a weekly Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s shopper; eating whole grains and fruits and veggies daily, but I know that I can cut out some of the junk I’ve consumed. Healthier me, here I come.

    Alright, today is definitely one of the better days I’ve had, just because I know I only have one more official day. I bought some rice milk and frozen strawberries for a lovely smoothie on day 11. Had to finally make Christmas candies and cookies and food seems to be a strange concept at this point. I didn’t even feel tempted to take a bite. Weird. Best advice for this whole deal is to keep busy.
