If you have followed the pre diet instructions, then today will be the 4th day of the master cleanse. But the truth is that this is actually the first day of the actual master cleanse. Whether you have finished the cleanse for the first time, 2nd day or even countless amount of time, the first day of the master cleanse can fill you with mixed emotions.
More often, you will have a surge of motivation that keeps you excited about day 1 hence most likely you will have no trouble doing the cleanse. But if you have no go through the pre diet, you may suddenly have a strong desire to eat as time goes by. Maybe breakfast and lunch is still alright but when it comes to the night time, you will feel the cravings haunting you.

Most people have trouble drinking the salt water flush for the first time, but you must still drink it. If you have trouble drinking it, don't give up because it gets easier every time! Add more water to dilute it if you can't swallow it but makes it harder every time.

For day 1, you may want to prepare the lemonade in the morning so that you can keep the lemonade fresh. Do take note that after 8 hours, the lemonade may turn bad even if you have kept it in the refrigerator. To the people who have just started, the making of the lemonade can be challenging although it is actually quite easy. But with close instructions on the internet, you should have no trouble making the lemonade.
To those who just embark on the 1st day of the master cleanse, we wish you good luck and congratulation that you embark on the journey to cleanse your body.
Do post your experience in the comment section to help everyone with the cleanse.

Ok first day went pretty well but I had a major headache, I think from not having caffeine. I normally have 2 cups of coffee in the morning and at least 1 diet coke during the day so that was rough but I didn’t feel hungry.

Today is day one of the Master Cleanse. I plan to do it for 40 days. It is not my first time. The results were awesome, and I am looking forward to this journey. I am a little bloated right now because I have just started my cycle, but I am ready anyways. I will me here everyday to discuss my day to day journey.

This is my 2nd attempt, last try was 1 month ago and I lasted for 4days! Weekends, that is when it’s more family time and we Eat, I bake, etc. That is going to be the hard part. Soo I’m trying it again, and trying to be more focused and think of all the positives about the cleanse! I’m looking towards a goal and praying that’s enough to keep me motivated! Spring is just ahead and I want to spring clean ME!

So I tried the herbal laxative last night just to see what it was like. I had a glass of tea around 10 PM last night and then this morning I tried the Salt Water Flush again — but this time with 3 teaspoons of sea salt instead of the two I tried on Ease-In Day 2. Another difference is that I had it in the morning instead of at night (you should have it on an empty stomach).
Suffice it to say, either the laxative and/or the flush did their job.
I made my first batch of the Lemonade this morning. I used three lemons which gave me 8 tablespoons of lemon juice. I used 8 tablespoons of maple syrup and 32 oz. of purified water. Using 1/10 teaspoon of cayenne paper is tough because I don’t have anything that measures that small so I winged it. I think I put a bit too much but it’s tolerable — at least I’ll know about how much to use next time. The drink actually doesn’t taste that bad so we’ll see how the day goes.
…
Day 1 is coming to a close and I have to say it wasn’t all that bad. I drank 72 oz. of the lemonade (equal to nine 8 oz. glasses) throughout the day. I drank the first 36 oz. batch up until about 5 PM and then made another batch after that for the rest of the night. As I write this I’m feeling a little hungry but I can tell if I made more it would hold me.
I’m about to drink my tea and that will be the end of the first day.

Okay.. today is my first day on the Master Cleanse Diet… I was pretty cool through out the day and the evening wasnt bad either. However, once I got to work.. I wanted PIZZA.. funny thing is I have been eating very well for the past 30 days.. so why in the heck did I want pizza???? But I thought whatever.. I am NOT TURNING back NOW….so needless to say.. drunk up I!!! I had 2 bottles of 32oz.. which gave me 6 glasses of 10oz, I actually had a little more. I was reading in one of the MANY infomtional sites regarding the diet is that if want to lose more wt, cut down the intake but NOT BELOW 6 cups… So that is what I PLAN on doing however,,I could actually go for another 32 oz of the stuff. I also bought sugar free less 5cal gum… that is helping me cope with the chewing factor in my brainl. Hmm lets see what else….I did the SWF on day 2 of the ease in , it worked wonders, yet the night before the ” BIG DAY” I drunk it and nothing.. hmmm.. I am going to do the SWF and tea laxative now darn it one of them or a combo should work… well I will keep you all posted.
Stay Healthy!!!

@Jenny : Hi Jenny! You are not alone – I’m starting Day 7 and feeling really good. The first days are the hardest because you are so in tune with everything around you. What will keep you going will be the changes you will see within a few days. Your body will shift and you will start to have so much energy! I know it is hard to be around so much food isn’t it! The first days, I just kept drinking the lemonade as often as I wanted. Seeing the food everywhere reminded me of how many things I eat during the day just because it is there.
My advice, for what it is worth, is to keep your lemonade with you – on your kitchen counter, in a corner at work, in a cool place in your car – wherever you can have a few sips, or however many you need. I drank a lot of the lemonade in my first few days. I pre-make mine in the morning and take two with me to work (in those work-out water bottles). No one knows what I am drinking and I don’t talk about it. The first time I did the cleanse, everyone started weighing in on my decision and it drove me nutty. Especially my husband – then 6 months later he did the cleanse and is a firm believer in the process!
I know how hard the salt water flush is and I hated it too, but started plugging my nose so it wouldn’t taste so strong. It helped me, if that is your issue…
Read back at other posts – there is so much great information and inspiration on this site.
Keep posting – you are doing great!

@Jenny
The saltwater rinses are terrible but they really are essential to help your body expel the toxin/waste. The first few times I tried I didn’t finish the ten days and I really attribute it to not doing the rinses. Now I hold my nose and swallow the salt water fast.

First day of the cleanse and i’m feeling pretty good! Feeling hungry but i try to overlook it and keep busy, i think its more out of a habit of eating more than anything.
Other than that feeling good and looking forward to this journey of cleansing.
I have heard a lot of people speak about it been a diet and losing weight, but to me its more about changing habits, discipline and control and cleansing my body of all the junk inside.
Ill keep you posted but so far so good!

With the salt water flush, i take 1 glass of warm water with 1/2 tsp of seal salt 4 times! I did my first one this morning, i couldnt even get through the 2nd one as it was so disgusting. However, it did well and truly do its flushing job. I’m going to try and make it to 3 glasses tomorrow!

Hi All- Today is day 1 for me. I’ve tried this cleanse before and never made it through. Lately, if I don’t take any psyllium, I don’t “go” everyday, and my hormones are way out of whack. I’m hoping this cleanse is a step in getting me balanced out again. If you have any experiences with that, let me know.
I have trouble getting the salt water down, does anyone know if I can just drink some more herbal tea in the morning, too? Is it as effective?

Hi Everyone- Today is my second day on the MC. I don’t feel too tired and I don’t even think I feel hungry. I’m just so used to eating that i have a hard time when i think about it. My mom is not so supportive so it doesn’t help. I wanted to know if you guys think the salt water flush is really necessary? I haven’t done it yet and I’m sure if i want to.

@Monica : The salt water is definitely necessary because it helps you to eliminate bowels. Remember about the laxative tea as well.

Can the cleanse be done for 7 days or does it have to be done for the full 10?
Emma

@Becky: no, it doesn’t have to be full 10 days. It’s more of a goal you have set for yourself and complete it. However, do take note that you may not fully reap the detoxification benefits because of that.

Today is my 2nd day on the cleanse. I did 2 days of the ease in and started the Salt Water Flush and lemonade yesterday. I have such a horrible headache today. I don’t feel hungry, and when I start to think about food or my stomach growls I drink the lemonade. I’m having a hard time drinking the 10-12 glasses of the lemonade. After the SWF I don’t feel hungry for hours. The SWF takes a lot of getting used to. My first day I could barely get it down. Today was not bad, but I added some lemon juice to it just to cut the taste a little. I have to say it’s not making me go to the bathroom. I had a movement this morning but that was more to the Smooth Move tea I drank last night. I’m already putting 2 teaspoons of the sea salt and that’s about all I can handle. I guess I’ll over the next few days. I agree with some other comments, I think about food but more our of habit of eating. I have been chewing some gum. I wasn’t sure if that was allowed but it helps me.

Today is THE day! May 3, 2010
Day One for me…
Have eaten nothing so far… My wife just returned from the store with all of the MC needs… Looking forward to it… Am a first-timer… Never have done anything like this before- but in desperate need! Have lived a life of decadence and debauchery for more than 30 years- started thrill seeking young, too young… age 11… Played more than Jim Morrison over the past 3 decades… Not Music BTW… Changed my life on 11/24/08- this is my 18th month clean & sober.
Now trying to revamp and care for my body. Used to be an athlete, etc…- but now glad to just be alive and hoping to super-charge my new commitment to health. I am a 42, soon to be 43 (June 22) year old male… I am 6’2” strong and sturdy built, but definitely overweight. I weighed in this AM at 260#s exactly… wanting to get back into prime health with a long term commitment. Hoping to detox and reboot with your program.
I am happily married and the father of four and step-father to three…
Want to live long and live well for all involved!
Taking my first SWF now!
Never have participated in a “chat” or whatever this is before.. but will give consistent updates and I am a glutton for support!
I am taking the program seriously…
Thank you,
-Alex
