
The master cleanse diet is created by Stanley Burroughs in 1941. He only published a book on the master cleanse only during 1976. In short, the diet only permits you to consume the lemonade mixture for the whole duration of the master cleanse – You can require to drink a minimum of 60 oz of lemonade a day and drink plenty of water too. But you are not allow to eat or drink other foods rather than the lemonade.
Do note: there is a big time difference from the time where Stanley Burroughs published the book till today (1976 and 2009). If you have been reading other websites information on the master cleanse recipe, most of them are using the original recipe which are a little outdated now (for example, the U.S.D.A. has changed the classification of maple syrup).


Before you embark on the master cleanse journey…
It is advsiable for you to obtain a copy of the master cleanse guide written by either Katie Jones or Raylen, so you would know exactly what to do and what to expect. Even though the web contains most of the master cleanse instructions, the content in these sites may not be organized and structured as well as these guides. As a result, you may miss out some of the most important information that can help you in the master cleanse.
We have provided you with a single serving recipe of the master cleanse diet below. Most of the time, you may want to make the lemonade for the whole day otherwise it’ll be troublesome for you to make the lemonade each time you want to drink it.
You would need to mix the following ingredients together in order to make the lemonade mixture.
1. 2 tablespoons of lemon juice
2. 2 tablespoons of organic maple syrup grade B
3. 1/10 teaspoon of cayenne pepper powder
4. 10 oz glasses of distilled water (This is around 295ml of water)
Lemon juice – you would approximately need half a lemon to make 2 tablespoons of lemon juice. If you want to create the lemonade for the whole day, it can only last for 8 hours before it turns bad (even you have put it into the fridge).
Do take note not to use canned lemon juice as the vitamins and nutrients are no longer in the canned lemon. It is essential for your body to absorb the lemon nutrients because you are drinking the lemonade for 10 days.
In our master cleanse survival manual, you would discover how you should you prepare the lemonade exactly in the morning. (You can’t add the cayenne pepper in the morning when you prepare the lemonade for the whole day, otherwise it will turn bad within a short while..)
Maple syrup - If you read from all the free information online, the standard instructions are to use organic maple syrup grade B. They would also tell you not to use other kinds of syrup as they are not suitable for the master cleanse diet. Usually you can only find the grade B maple syrup in United States only and if you are from other parts of the world, chances are you won’t be able to find grade B maple syrup.
BUT, is it the truth that only grade B maple syrup is suitable for master cleanse? In our master cleanse survival manual, you would also discover whether do you really need grade B maple syrup. (It is found out that Stanley Burroughs originally published the Master Cleanse in 1976 when the U.S.D.A. classified maple syrup into 3 different categories. However, now U.S.D.A. has revised it’s classification… )
Cayenne pepper – do not underestimate the power of cayenne pepper. It is one of the best healing herbs in the world. The pepper can increase the blood flow in the body, have a rich source of vitamins B & C and can save one from heart attack. We would recommend you to buy the powder form of cayenne pepper.
Most people find it difficult to drink the lemonade with the cayenne pepper in it. If you find it difficult too, here’s a tip… Put the cayenne pepper powder into empty capsules and when you drink the lemonade and maple syrup, just swallow the capsules. This is more effective than buying cayenne pepper pills that are produced by the pharmaceutical companies.
Laxative Herb Tea
Usually one can take the green or peppermint tea but take note that it should not be caffeinated. This is usually taken before the start of the master cleanse and the instruction from the book is to drink it every evening before you go to the bed.
Note: You don’t want to drink the laxative tea together with the salt water flush as it would cause diarrhea.
Salt Water Flush Recipe
You would need to prepare a teaspoon of organic sea salt (not iodized salt) with 25 – 35 oz of warm water. Mix well and do your best to drink the solution in one go. If it is difficult to drink, use normal temperature water then. The purpose of the salt water flush and the laxative tea is to help you in bowel elimination.
It is best to drink the salt water flush before drinking the lemonade in the morning as it is more effective with empty stomach.

I generally have a clean diet….no caffeine, vegetarian etc. I am now on day #3. The food cravings are not bad…but I admit I want to eat especially being in the produce dept at dinner time….buying more lemons. Anyhow….I have had a constant headache/temple pressure. My mind is a little fuzzy….has anyone experienced this? I am in it for the haul! Similar to running a marathon….your body can do it…your mind can do it …something I have actually chanted while running 26.2!
I have been on the cleanse for 12 days and I am not ready to get off, I think my body is liking the way it feels. I may stay on for another 5days if i am able. I am scared to put all those chemicals back in my body. I have alot of energy. I do get hungry, but after I drink the lemonade, the hunger goes away.
This the 3rd day of my second cleanse and I feel good.. starting to notice the detox symptoms.. I am excited because I know how great I will feel a week from now!
I did the cleanse for 20 days in Feb. and felt so good I did not want to go off the routine. I did experience a terrible headache on the 2nd day because of caffeine withdrawal. This time it was much easier because I had not added caffeine back into my diet after the first cleanse. I think that the 8th day was the best. I am a health conscious vegetarian and did not expect to see real results from this detox.. I was wrong.
so i started the cleanse yesterday, i just finished nursing a few weeks ago and i just felt my body needed a kick start to get healthy. so far i feel good but i must admit it is hard to see other people eating things. today i took my kids to the movies and was wanting to get popcorn. oh well.
Today is my first day and first attempt at the Master Cleanse. My mother-in-law has been promoting this for years! I have a 15 month old son and since having him I haven’t lost the baby weight I accquired while pregnant. I’m currently 173 lbs and 5ft 5in. I’m tired all the time and can’t seem to keep up with my son throughout the day. My goal is to feel better, sleep better, have more energy and if I lose some weight to boot – I’d be elated!!! My husband will be doing the cleanse with me, so hopefully it will make it easier. My only concern is my 18 year old neice who lives with us while shes going to college is a take out junkie. It going to be hard to smell chinese food at night! Wish me luck!
Day two and I feel like junk! Even things that I normally wouldn’t eat sound good right now. My head aches pretty bad too. That started around 2pm yesterday and hasn’t let up. I havn’t lost weight and I feel bloated and gross. I know its always darkest before dawn but man, I hope it gets better soon! I’m going to try to get out today with my son, headache or not, and keep busy. The worst part about yesterday was all the extra time I had on my hands. Without munching all day I found I had so much more empty time and it almost drove me to snacking more than a few times. But, I kept strong and will continue to do so. I just have to keep thinking about the benefits soon to come. I think I’m also going to try the salt water flush again tomorrow morning. It didn’t work for me the first time and getting the salty mixture down was miserable! I’m only having one movement a day, in the morning, and I feel I must do something else to kick start some activity! Well, I’m off to the second hand store…must keep busy busy busy today!
Im on my fifth day of the cleanse and feel great. I also quit smoking the same day i started the cleanse. As far as any side effects; i do get hungry from time to time but just push through it. It is definitly an awesome thing and i would recommend it to any one. Thanks so much for coming up with it. I didn’t use the salt water flush but took Cascara Sagrada every morning and night. That is something i would recommend for those who dont like salt, like myself. All i can say is it’s all in your mind; if you want to succed on the cleanse you will. Thanks again,

This is my first time trying the Master Cleanse. I am nervous because the items that we can drink does not taste all that pleasant but I am in desperate need to loose weight. This is Day:1 and I am 198. Let’s see how I do by the 10th day…

ok so i can’t seem to stomach more than 4 servings a day “/ this my 3rd day and i stared out drinking 4 then yesterday i had 3 cups and today i almost threw up with 4! i’m not hungry or craving other foods. However i’m definatly not craving the Lemonade. oh i’ve also had to take shots of the molases seperatly from the lemon and cayenne pepper.the combination makes me sick. i have lost about 4 pounds since starting but idk how much longer i can stand or survive for that matter cause i’m pretty sure 400 calories a day is not that great. So in all honesty should i continue or look for another cleanser?
